Hi there, of course you may have my permission, to quote my email. I really do recommend this book to all health conscious, and especially to people with kidney problems.
Please read the feedback we have received from families who have read the info on our site and in The Hidden Drug - Dietary Phosphate and who have put the recommendations into practice:
I hope more moms can and will try to change their families diet. We have found it so beneficial.
Thank you and to all the research out there that helped us!
I read some research online back three years ago on the connection between phosphates and ADD. My son was starting school and I was concerned about his hyperactivity and inattention.
I threw everything out that was boxed and had the words phosphate or other preservatives. I also stopped giving my son milk and restricted sugar and wheat. There is definitely a difference in his abillity to listen and follow rules- with less frustration and upset.
Thank God for the internet and and the people, Drs., researchers, nutritionists out there that believe in solving these special children's needs naturally. The difference is life changing for the whole family!
- JANE, YOU WERE SOOOO HELPFUL TO ME A MONTH OR SO AGO WHEN I FIRST DISCOVERED YOUR WEBSITE. I THOUGHT I COULD GET THE BOOK THROUGH BARNES AND NOBLE BUT WAS UNABLE. SO I'M FINALLY ORDERING IT. I HAVE A LOT TO SHARE WITH YOU SINCE MY SON HAS BEEN PHOSPHATE FREE. ABSOLUTELY ASTONISING THE CHANGE IN HIM!!!!!! WE ARE SOOOOO HAPPY AND NO MORE SCREAMING BATTLES ARE GOING ON IN OUR HOUSE ANYMORE! ALL MY THANKS TO HERTHA AND THIS BOOK!

- I wanted to tell you...that we have had a MAJOR success with our son from changing his diet. It's like having a 'reasonable, workable' child again! He's no angel...(God love him!) but...woah...he actually LISTENS to us now, and we have enjoyed a good week of family meal times WITHOUT tantrums, rage, and food everywhere. I feel like this is what 'normal' families must experience and enjoy.
I am so thankful for this new option! Thank YOU.

- I used pool sticks ranging from 6 -9 to test Daniel's saliva pH. It was first thing in the morning and he tested between 7.2 and 7.4 (green). He is on a low phosphate diet at the moment.
Today we were out for lunch and Daniel had a chocolate biscuit and 1/2 hour later, a piece of choc cake. His behaviour deteriorated rapidly and I had to bring him home. He was aggressive, oppositional and very stimmy (autistic). After a few hours of not eating anything I tested his pH and it was 8.2! The colour went straight up. I couldn't believe it. I gave him a capful of vinegar. So now I have to seriously look at all foods that are high in phosphate.

- Hi Jane,
All of the doctors with whom I have discussed this, and provided a copy
of the book in several cases, universally have responded that if
generally being watchful of our dietary phosphate was helpful to us,
great, but they have not otherwise expressed further interest or direct
agreement in the idea or the reality. The professional "knowing nod"
and small tolerant smile have been the typical reaction. However, most
of these US doctors have only relatively recently (measured in years)
"discovered" the value of vitamin supplementation, so I am not
particularly surprised. Given that nutrition is not offered at most US
medical schools, and is a required course at only one of which I am
aware, my speculation is that a "dietary issue" is too far out of their
standard frame of reference. This is a great country to be in if you
have a catastrophic accident, but the worst county to be in if you are
trying to prevent health issues.

- Dear Jane, I wanted to let you know of the dramatic change we have seen in our son since starting him on the ADD-low phosphate diet.
The effect was rapid, within a couple of days we had a different child. We didn't tell his teacher what we were up to and two weeks later she was asking us "what had changed?" He is happier, more co-operative, controls his impulses, can finish his schoolwork, his motor skills are still improving, attention span is now normal.
He is eight and after years of resisting (six and a half of them, to be precise) the standard 'treatment' of ADD it is wonderful to have been validated so thoroughly.
I had the health department send out a code breaker booklet so as to know what all those numbers in our foods meant, and now we can easily identify those laced with phosphate. The diet is so easy to follow and he feels so good on it that I am confident that this is a change that can be maintained.
Thank you so much for your work in translating this research and having it published.
I have been recommending your website to everyone to visit, in the hope that if they don't need the information they will be inspired to pass it on to someone who does.
All the best,

- My daughter is benefiting quite nicely with lessened ADHD behavior/symptoms
from your suggested low phosphate diet.

- A family member has neurofibromatosis. Tumors run wild throughout the nervous system. Just like phosphate pouring into a lake creates "algae bloom" too much phosphate in the body can be very deadly. 50% of these people have learning disabilities and 10% would be considered "retarded".
So, the more I read on tumor growth, the formula is simple:
Phosphate + Fat (created by sugar intake), supported by copper blood vessels = rapid tumor growth.
So, I am now very concerned about phosphate. I can't wait to read your authors research findings and believe it should be a mandatory read for every parent or cancer patient.

This is a great help for people on dialysis too in understanding the importance of a low phosphate diet..
very interesting and informative information and advice. Would definitely recommend the book. It may be an idea to send leaflets of the book to hospitals and hemodialysis satellite units in the UK as I think this would be useful to doctors, gps, nutritionists and any personnel treating kidney failure patients.
As someone being on dialysis for over 7 years, I have come across many dietary advisors, each saying different things, I have had to do my own research and reading. This book has helped me eliminate a lot of confusion and gave me an understanding of the importance of controlling phosphate, which in comparsion was not explained to me by the doctors, nurses or dietians that have advised me when my phosphate was dangeroursly high...
Thank you again for sending me the book, it really has helped me with my dietary eating plans. Whereas before, I was going crazy, as foods that were recommended I could eat by the renal dietian, I was still suffering from high phosphate levels. It was only after reading this book that I now know about foods that have hidden phosphate, which I know dietians are not yet fully aware of (as I have asked and it was admitted that their knowledge in this area is very limited).
This is why I recommend that this book should be made aware of to all health professionals.
Can't thank you enough for having found the book!!!
best wishes from claire lee, UK
As I'm just starting my research on ADD/ADHD, this is one of the most informative and down right impressive sites I have found on the subject. Especially as most other sites talk about 'which medications work or don't work, etc......'
Beckie S. from the US sent a beautiful and life changing story which you can read in our
I had my son fully tested through a
special clinic checking for ADD. They said he was absolutely clear. He was intelligent,
insightful and very self expressive. He had requested this test as he noticed symptoms like lack
of concentration developing and changes in sleep cycles. It gradually got worse over a 12 month
period and his school work, self esteem declined and his frustration and anger increased.
I finally had him tested on a 'Vega' machine and found he has high phosphate levels and a
resultant hyper-sensitivity. Although he does not show up with ADD results on this test, the high
phosphate does disturb serotonin levels in the brain and thus creates many ADD-like symptoms.
